It is never too late to mend.
亡羊补牢
Once upon a time， there was a shepherd who kept several sheep.
从前有个人，养了几只羊。
One morning， the shepherd discovered that one of his sheep was missing.It turned out that， during the night， a wolf had stolen his sheep through a hole in the sheep pen.
一天早上，他发现少了一只羊。原来羊圈破了个窟窿，夜间狼从窟窿里钻进来把羊叼走了。
His neighbor suggested to him： “You should fix the pen and cover the hole right away.”
邻居劝告他说：“赶快把羊圈修一修，堵上那个窟窿吧。”
But the shepherd said： “The sheep is already lost， so I don‘t need to repair it.” And so he rejected the neighbor’s suggestion.
他说：“羊已经丢了，还修羊圈干什么呢？”他没接受邻居的劝告。
The next morning， he discovered that another sheep was missing.Once again， the wolf stole the sheep through the hole in the fence.
第二天早上，他去放羊，发现又少了一只羊。原来狼又从窟窿里钻进来把羊叼走了。
The shepherd regretted not taking the neighbor‘s advice.So he plugged the hole to secure the sheep pen.
他很后悔没有接受邻居的劝告，他赶快堵上那个窟窿，把羊圈修得结结实实的。
From then on， no more sheep was stolen by the wolf.
从此，他的羊再没有被狼叼走了。
“亡羊补牢”这个故事中的主人公虽然因为不听他人意见，而使自己蒙受了损失，但是后来经过自己的补救，使同样的情况没有再发生，所以现在我们常用这个成语表达“出现了问题，只要及时补救，都还来得及”。
英语中如果想表达同样的意思，我们可以说“It is never too late to mend.”，也就是“补救永远不嫌太晚”。

In the late Eastern Han Dynasty， the country was in confusion.
东汉末年，天下大乱。
In order to reunite the country， Liu Bei paid a visit to Zhu Geliang who had hidden himself in the countryside.
刘备为统一天下，特意拜访隐居的诸葛亮寻求帮助。
He went there twice but didn‘t see Zhu Geliang. Then the third time he finally met him.
他连去了两次都没见到诸葛亮，第三次才见到了他。
Liu Bei explained why he came and explained his noble ambition to Zhu Geliang.Zhu Geliang also proposed some very good strategies.

After listening， Liu Bei was so happy， he appointed Zhu Geliang as his military advisor.He said： “Zhu Geliang to me is as water is to fish.”
刘备听后大喜，于是立诸葛亮为军师。他说：“我刘备有了诸葛亮，就好像鱼儿有了水一样。”
With the assistance of Zhu Geliang， Liu Bei’s power expanded rapidly， and finally he realized his goal.
刘备在诸葛亮的帮助下，势力不断扩大，最终实现了目标。
Nowadays， this phrase is often used to describe the person who stays in the environment which suits him/her perfectly， or someone who is very adept at using the suitable or right methods.
如今，这个短语常常被用来形容一个人处在完全适合自己的环境中，或者一个人能够熟练地应用合适的或正确的方法。
“如鱼得水”用英文可以表达为“feel just like a fish in water”，我们来看一个例句：

笨鸟先飞
A bird hatches six baby birds.The Sixth is very weak and small； his sisters and brothers usually bully him.The other birds usually rob food from his mouth， and the Sixth has to suffer from hunger.
树上一只鸟妈妈孵出了六只鸟宝宝，小六又瘦又小，哥哥姐姐们都欺负它；经常从它嘴里抢虫子，小六只得饿着肚子。

When the winter is coming and the bird flock prepare to fly to the south， the “clumsy bird” is the first one to start flying.
冬天到了，鸟群要南飞了；小笨鸟是鸟群中第一个飞往南方的。
“笨鸟先飞”比喻了那些“本身资质可能稍逊于他人，但是靠加倍的努力赶上甚至是超过了别人”的人，英语中有一个意义相近的短语叫做“The early bird catches the worm.”，意思就是“早起的鸟儿有虫吃”，但是它并不强调这早起的鸟就是“笨鸟”，更多的强调了“勤能补拙”的意思。
所以，如果有一天你很早起床去学校，朋友很惊讶，问你：“Why are you so early？”那你就可以回答：“To catch worm.”（也就是自己把自己比喻成了“early bird”~）
